In case you are not already aware, let me let you in on a little secret. The Church History Museum in downtown Salt Lake...is an AMAZING place to take kids. And the best part is, it doesn't cost a thing. The upstairs of that place is like an extension of the children's museum. Just look at all the fun things we were able to do there when we went with my sister and her family.
Play in an old ship bunk so you can see what the pioneers who crossed the ocean had to sleep in.
Help Nephi build a ship, go fishing off the side of the ship.

Dress in beautiful hispanic dresses and watch a screen to learn the dance
Abby was really getting into it. The dresses were a little big for her but when she started holding out her pants like a skirt I decided we would make it work on her.
There was also a kitchen area where you could make food for the missionaries, get eggs from chickens (all pretend of course), plant and pick vegetables out of the ground, and build tall towers with huge soft blocks. The kids could have easily spent another hour there, but we were getting hungry for lunch. The best part is that the church changes the upstairs display once a year I think. This year the theme is the book of Mormon, anyway it is awesome, take your kids, they will love it!
