St. Augustine

Last Saturday Alex and I decided to get away for a little day trip before he started school on Monday. So we went to St. Augustine, a little town on the coast about an hour and forty-five minutes away. History Note: St. Augustine is known for being the oldest continually inhabited city in the country. It was founded in 1513 by a Spanish Explorer named Ponce de Leon. He named it "La Florida" (Land of Flowers, which is how Florida got its name). Anyway, history lesson is over, back to us. First we decided to go to the beach since we have not been since we moved here. It was the most beautiful day and perfect for the beach, just a little too cold to go in the water.

After the beach we drove into town. There were so many things to see but unfortunately we could only afford to see some. We saw an old lighthouse that was built in the 1800's, an old fort, and we went to the "Fountain of Youth". Yes, that is correct, we found the legendary fountain of youth right here in St. Augustine and yes we drank out of it. Although the taste was nothing to write home about, I guess it was worth it for everlasting life. Can't you tell I look younger already? :-)

This is the only picture I got of the fort, so if you look behind me you can kind of see it.

After doing a bit of sight seeing we went to dinner at this cute little Mexican restaurant overlooking the bay. Then we did a little shopping at some of the adorable little shops. It was such a fun day and a great little get away for Alex and I. Love you Babe, thanks for an amazing day!

Fun! I love the short trips. They are a blast. I can't believe you partook of the fountain of youth! Who would have thought there was one?

I'm trying hard to negotiate my way down to Orlando with Andrew. He's more open to the idea than I thought. We'd love to take Eliza to some place while she's still free. You'd have to come along with us!

And how many Mcdonalds did you pass on the way there? You should know, you know it from the radius of your house to Wendy's.

So glad you had a great time. I love my home town and love sharing it with others. I can't believe you drank that water. : ) I always thought it would kill me, not make me live longer. Hehe!
