16 Months Old

Today Abby is 16 months old. Since I have not posted a monthly update since she turned 1, I figured I would post an update to help me remember what she is doing at 16 months.

Abby is developing quite the personality and I am amazed on a daily basis at how much she understands. It seems like she is learning new things every day and it is so much fun to watch her discover the world around her.

- She loves to dance and is always pointing at the computer so that I will pull up the Itunes and turn on some dancing music.

- She is working on using utensils while she is eating but she gets frustrated a lot because she can't do it as well as she would like.
- Abby is still not walking yet but I think she is getting pretty close and I think by the end of the month she will have it down. She just needs the desire to be there :)
- She loves pushing things around the house and walking behind them.
- She is learning what to do when we say prayers and she will fold her arms whenever we tell her it is prayer time. Yesterday when I went in to lay her down for her nap, she immediately folded her arms for prayers...so we said prayers before nap time too. Right now I am working on her saying Amen after the prayer instead of clapping.
- Abby is very opinionated and she will tell you exactly what she thinks about EVERYTHING. The other day I bought her a new bib so now she has a brand new bib and one that is a little bit older. But she refuses to wear the old bib, she throws a major fit if I try to put the old one on her...silly girl.
- She LOVES the playground, especially the swings and the slide. She will sit in the swings quietly for at least 20 minutes while I push her, happy as can be. She is very proud of herself now that she can go up the stairs and slide down one of the smaller slides all by herself.
- She is very affectionate and loves to give me hugs and kisses, recently she started coming up to me and laying her head on my shoulder and patting my back.
- When she knows she is not supposed to touch something she will often point to it and shake her head no.
- She loves to get into things :)

The other day I heard her whining and I came into the kitchen to see that she had pulled out a large bowl and had gotten herself stuck inside it. I had to take a quick picture before I rescued her.

- She is always getting the toe nail clippers out of the drawer in the bathroom and trying to clip her toenails.

- She has figured out that the keys unlock the front door and she is always using her sets of toy keys to try and unlock the door so she can go outside.

Here Tanner, you give the keys a try, maybe you can get it open and we can escape together.

- I have heard her say a few different words, however, she doesn't always use them consistently, and most other people would not understand what she is saying out of context. But she continues to try to copy the words that I say. So far I have heard her say:
Cracker, more, bye bye, thank you, no no, Grandpa, ball, balloon, bubble, baby, yuck, mama, dada, and Jesus
- Abby thinks it is absolutely hilarious whenever she or anyone else has gas or burps, and just breaks into a laugh whenever she hears either.
- She is still so social and she LOVES being around other people and going to new places. She doesn't have too much of a stranger anxiety problem and she will usually go to anyone within a minute or two of meeting them.
- She hates being alone and she follows me from room to room all day.
-She likes bath time and comes into the bathroom as fast as she can when she hears the water running, then she throws her bath toys in the tub as fast as she can.
- She likes to copy facial expressions and we have a lot of fun trying to copy each other's faces.

Abby is such a sweet heart and I am so thankful every day that she is mine. She is growing up too fast and sometimes I wish I could just freeze time and she could be my little baby girl forever.
